India’s fastest indigenous train, Train 18 named as Vande Bharat Express.

Train 18 is an indigenously developed world-class train under Make in India.

The 16-coach train has been built completely in India by Indian engineers in a span

of 18 months.

It will be the second Tulip garden in the country after the one located in Srinagar of

Men’s Singles: Novak Djokovic of Serbia.

Novak Djokovic of Serbia becomes the first man to win seven titles at Australian

Open. The victory of Naomi Osaka of Japan cements her place as number one women singles player of the world.

9. DSC Prize for South Asian Literature.

No Presents Please wins DSC Prize for South Asian Literature 2018.

 No Presents Please is an English Novel translated from Kannada Work of Jayant Kaikini. The novel was translated to English by Tejaswini Niranjana.

Note : Instituted in 2010, the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature awards the best work in South Asian fiction writing each year.

10. IBSA Gandhi-Mandela Memorial Freedom Lecture.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered the first IBSA Gandhi-Mandela Memorial Freedom Lecture.

11. LRSAM Successfully Tested from coast of Odisha.

India has successfully flight tested Long Range Surface-to-Air Missile (LRSAM) from a warship off Odisha coast. The LRSAM successfully destroyed a low flying aerial target.

12. President confers Ashoka Chakra on Lance Naik Nazir Wani.

India’s highest peacetime gallantry honour, Ashoka Chakra was awarded to Lance Naik Nazir Wani posthumously.

Lance Naik Nazir Wani also holds the distinction of being the first Kashmiri to be conferred the Ashoka Chakra.

13. PM inaugurates Four museums in Red Fort Complex.

  1. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Museum.
  2. Yaad-e-Jallian Museum.
    The Yaad-e-Jallian Museum provides an authentic account ofJallianwala Bagh massacre happened on April 13, 1919.
  3. Museum on 1857- India’s first war of Independence.
  4. Drishyakala-Museum on Indian Art.

Note : Nanaji Deshmukh and singer Bhupen Hazarika were awarded Bharat Ratna posthumously.

15. Padma Awards 2019.

The government of India has announced the Padma Awards 2019. The 112 prominent personalities honoured with the Padma Awards include comprises 4 Padma Vibhushan, 14 Padma Bhushan and 94 Padma Shri Awards.

Padma Awards were instituted by the government of India in 1954.

16. Indian Africa Field Training Exercise.

Indian Africa Field Training Exercise (IAFTX) will be held at Aundh Military Station and College of Military Engineering, Pune from 18 March to 27 March 2019.

The joint exercise will see participation from Nigeria, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania, Zambia, Namibia, Mozambique and Uganda.

17. India, Japan undertake Disaster Control Exercise.

The coast guards of India and Japan undertook disaster control, search and rescue exercises off the coast of Yokohama in Japan. India had hosted the Japanese ships for the exercise last year and this time Japan is hosting the exercise. ICGS Shaunak is the main Indian ship taking part in the drills.

18. Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards 2019.

President Ram Nath Kovind conferred Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards 2019 to 30 awardees.

At : Varanasi

The winner of this prestigious award includes Gita Gopinath chief economist of IMF, Nihal Singh Agar, founding president of VHP in Australia and Rames Chotai, former president of Hindu Mandir and Cultural Centre in Canada.

Note : Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards is the highest honour conferred on overseas Indians.
